We believe the heart behind Legacy Landing is to serve others and to provide the time, place and opportunity for them to draw near to God. Can a person actually listen to God? We think the answer is yes! We encourage you to set aside the many distractions in your life and to follow Christ’s example of retreating often to spend time with the Father.
After trusting Christ as a college student in 1971, I was very passionate about sharing the love of Christ with others. Jeannie and I joined the staff of Campus Crusade, now called “Cru.”
We directed campus ministries, led outreaches during the summer on beach projects, worked with a ministry to university professors, worked with FamilyLife, helped start a Christian college in New York City, and raised funds for Spark of Life, a ministry that comes alongside those that have experienced devastating loss.
We have lived in a ministry setting where success was defined by how much you accomplished –
“big is better”
“take the next hill”
“don’t show weakness”
“develop the next project”
“share your faith nonstop”
“make sure ‘the board’ is happy with the results”
We have been under the leadership of very strong personalities for most of the past 45 years. In ministry, we have experienced pain, disappointment, brokenness, and burnout. We have seen many others in ministry crash and burn and their spouses and children have suffered alongside them.
In our own personal journey, we have lived through many years of striving to DO all the things that we and others have expected of us. And this has resulted in us often taking our eyes off of Christ so we could put all our efforts into ministry. As a result, we have missed out on many opportunities to draw near to Christ – to grow in our personal relationship with Him, to know Him intimately, to see His tenderness toward us, His desire for us to be still and to listen to Him.
Have you missed Him too?
Does any of the above sound like you? If so, Legacy Landing might be the perfect place for you to come aside – to pause, to reflect, to make the time and effort to really listen to God.
If your answer to the above is yes, this is what you can expect from Legacy Landing. You will experience a custom-designed get-away retreat for you and your spouse (if married). This will not be a conference or a group retreat. Along with our staff, you will be the only ones present. You will stay in a beautiful house either on a remote beach in Florida or in the Colorado mountains. During your stay you will be hosted by one of our ministry couples, all of whom have served in ministry for many decades. Our staff has a gift of hospitality and serving. We would love to have the joy of knowing you, hearing your story, loving on you, and encouraging you!

There are two other groups of people that Jeannie and I have a heart for. First, parents whose children’s health has been compromised. We know these parents have been on a long journey and it has taken a toll on their marriage and family. We would love to have an opportunity to encourage them, serve them and create a setting for them to experience some rest and refreshment in a beautiful location.
Finally, we care deeply about those that have worked hard in the corporate world. We personally have counted on your financial support to help us serve in full-time ministry and we would love to give back to you. We know that you have worked hard, and you have given sacrificially so ministries like Legacy Landing can survive. Thank you! We know you need encouragement as well. You need time to be still and connect with God on a deeper level. Come join us!!
